THE HISTORY
Built in the early part of the 19th Century - the theatre was originally known as the Grove Kinema. It was later re-named The Victory Theatre in honour of the Allied victory in WW2.

In the 1950's a well renowned Johannesburg camera man, Mr Italo Bernicchi (famous for his works: 'African Mirror') was approached by the building's owners to screen some of his award

winning camera documentaries, this move gave life to the theatre once again.

When the Victory Theatre switched from screening movies to putting on live productions - the first performance was the famous South African production: Ipi Ntombi followed by The Rocky Horror Show - 1992. The Rocky Horror returned again to celebrated it’s Silver Jubilee (25 years celebration) at the Victory in 1997 / 1998.

Times were getting tougher and the venue was in urgent need for a ‘revamp’. In 2005 the theatre was sold to current owner, Mr Joe Theron, who had a vision to create a venue that could offer visitors an evening of great entertainment, meals and the convenience of onsite parking.

Now after 2 years, with the entire old structure gutted and rebuilt, a 4 storey carpark, restaurant, music bar and entertainment area added to the venue, the Victory Theatre can entertain again to its fullest potential.

Complete with balcony area, rebuilt stage including fly tower & seating, unlimited lighting capabilities and state-of-the-art sound (to make those perennial hits sound better than ever) the Victory Theatre compares with any Broadway or West End theatre. A lift has also been built into the stage to ensure a more spectacular experiences for the audience.
